  1. You’re missing …
You’re missing Robinson’s point. He “there isn’t a system on the planet that teaches children dance everyday the way that we teach them mathematics”, roughly 9 minutes into the presentation. There is not section in the presentation where Robinson says that Dance or Art or Music or Drama are any more important than other subjects. His point is that they are as important and should be taught as such. You need to listen and not just hear.

  2. Did you even listen …
Did you even listen to him? He never said our goal should be “letting western countries be more creative and not eastern”, he said everybody should be allowed to be more creative. Now if this results in only western culture being “dancers” and eastern remain academic, than yes your right.

  3. Beautiful Sam! Me …
    Beautiful Sam! Me too! ;-D

  4. Well if music fails …
Well if music fails I’m going into teaching, I’m not sure a which level yet but It’s the only job for me. I want to help people make something of their lives no matter what I do and if that’s through music or teaching, I know it’ll make me happy.
    Creativity for the win!

  5. I think so too. And …
I think so too. And I wish I went to a school like that myself when I was a kid. I actually went to a catholic private all my life, with a lot of ‘cut your hair, wear ur tie’, etc, stuff.

  6. That’s completely …
That’s completely rediculous. Although, yes in this world as it is right now that is true. But advice like this isn’t saved for just western culture, but all cultures. This is an idea ! Dancing and prancing around like a homo ? there is complete symmetry in that art and those “homo” dancers bodies are healthy and longer lasting than what your comment here provides.

  7. Math being most …
Math being most important to schools is not always true, I have looked into many schools that require that you only have a diploma (with a minimum of a math 20/grade 11 applied level included) and English 30, where you are actually more likely to get accepted if you have taken part in one of the artistic optional classes, including VanArts, a well known and appreciated school in Vancouver.

  8. This is nonsense. …
This is nonsense. If we follow this advice, we may as well hand over our society and culture and government to the chinese . While you are busy dancing and prancing around like a homo, the chinese and other tyrants will be busy with computers, weapons, technology, etc and you won’t have a free country to prance around in much longer.

  9. @JesusManson323 …
@JesusManson323 Sorry but can you clarify?
Knowledge of your discipline? where does that come from and how would you obtain it?
I’m asking this before answering to make sure I have understood you.

  10. @DonPaps Well then …
@DonPaps Well then you are a lucky person.

  11. @Whyolin …
@Whyolin Frankincense. In the Christmas story in Christianity, this was one of the three gifts presented to Jesus at his birth.

  12. @lcdrovers Yet …
@lcdrovers Yet today science and math are used in ways that they never should be.
Art can convey a message and this message can be used to understand the point of science and matths etc.
Art is a way of opening your mind to others, allowing a community to grow, people to be themselves. Science IS LIKE ART. Because sciences NEEDS creativity.
Food for thought. Please do answer.

  13. I dicussed this …
I dicussed this with my friend and she always scoffed at my idea that if you went for a job interveiw for a position that is primarily creative they would be more concerned with the grades you got in english or art.

I think i may show them both this video. :) x

  14. My maths teacher is …
My maths teacher is always going on about how maths is THE most important subject in school. Any interveiw you go to for any 6th form, university or school will look at your maths grade first and from this grade they will determine how intelligent you are. This has always annoyed me as i’ve never understood how memorising a set of processes is a sign of intelligence.

  15. @DonPaps He states …
@DonPaps He states that there is not a school system that teaches dance the way we teach mathematics, which is entirely true. It’s great that your school tries to teach the arts in some way, but it is apparent that they don’t hold the arts in the same regard as other subjects. 30 minutes a day for dance, music, and drama is not nearly enough.

  16. what s frankcentice?
    what s frankcentice?

  17. Ofc not, and that’s …
Ofc not, and that’s the point of the video I understand. We try to educate children in all aspects, as much in math as in painting etc. We are also a private school (all waldorf schools here are, and is not much more expensive than a public school) otherwise we wouldn’t be allowed to arrange the classes like that.

  18. That’s pretty cool. …
That’s pretty cool. But unfortunatly not every school may take the time to promote creativity.

  19. @lcdrovers i dont …
@lcdrovers i dont agree… thinking in terms of the future…mathematics…and all things linear will be replaced by computers, will be outsourced to other countries and will be and who is to say that scientists and mathematicians are not creative. every single object on this planet, created by man, begins with a design…

  20. after those 30 mins …
after those 30 mins, we got normal classes, about 45 mins before lunch break, and then like 15 breaks til about 15:00. It’s a Waldorf school, u can look it up in Wikipedia.

  21. how long are the …
how long are the other classes

  22. Even tho I have …
Even tho I have megalomaniac colleagues, I think it’s a bit too general as well.

  23. 9:06 Wrong, I work …
9:06 Wrong, I work at a school where the first 30 mins of EVERY DAY, in every class, is about dancing, singing, playing music or rehearsing a little play.

Otherwise I agree to everything this guy says in this video =)

  24. Watch the Zeitgeist …
    Watch the Zeitgeist movies.

Its time to WAKE UP and live the lives we are supposed to be living!!!!!!

  25. He doesn’t say that …
He doesn’t say that maths and stuff is not important. In fact he says that it IS important. But his point is – as you also said – that creativity is just as important as science.
