I really want to become a good photographer because I like art a lot, but i feel like I can never focus well with my camera (I have a Nikon coolpix). I took a non-digital photography class in school a while ago, but I didn’t learn anything, so I don’t really want to waste my time in a class again.
I was wondering what kind of camera would be good to get started on? And any other tips would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Before deciding about your profession I think its always better to ask the older one within your same family and before going for the camera you have to decide which sort of photography that you are going to do with. D-SLR most commonly used by the professional photographers and some other point and shoot cameras also provides both functions like in D-SLR and Compact both in 1 like we have Canon SX10 IS and Canon G10. Those are some good Cameras for the beginner I think. The purchase provides you a mannual book that will teach you a lot about photography and camera functions. You will have to do lot of practical with different lighting conditions and designing if you really want to become a professional photographer or a designer later. Please visit the site

There are different topics included within the site with Travel photography and more that will guide you and help you find your answer in detail. Thank you.

I recently bought the Canon Powershot A550 as it was affordable, $165 AUD.
Its good and everything but I was wondering if anyone could give me tips on doing photography with a normal digital camera, not one of those expensive ones.
Like techniques and ideas.
thanks
Your camera doesn’t have to have all the bells and whistles to make good photographs. You can make some very creative photos just using the auto settings on a basic digital camera. It all depends on the way you frame your photos, the lighting, and the subject itself. Check out the many digital photo contest sites online and see what the other photographers are doing. Take lots of pictures each time you use your camera with the intention of throwing out any or all if they don’t look as good as you want them to look. Digital photography makes it easy to learn as you go since you have the freedom to erase and retake photos many times. Don’t expect instant art from your efforts. It takes some time to develop your own style.
When you get more into photography, you might want to get a better camera. You still don’t have to get a DSLR to take quality photos. There are some very good digital cameras on the market for $500 and under. (USD)
Oh, and the most important tip of all-relax and enjoy the experience each time you set out to take photographs.

I absolutely love to take nature Photography. I feel like my work is good enough to sell, and I would like to give it a try on ebay. I don’t want anyone to steal my images from there though so I am wondering what the best way is to copyright my material. I’ve seen people put a word over the image so people won’t want to try to take the image off the site to use as their own. Also, If someone does buy one of my pics, how do I copyright the actual photograph?
Recently, the government has come to the conclusion that if you have the original negative, the image is yours. Brilliant right? But you should embed a digital watermark using photoshop, or paintshop if you’re going to sell them online. The poorman’s copyright isn’t a bad idea either.
The whole thing with the legal paperwork is that it entitles you, without any court proceedings, to any royalties if someone reproduces your image for their use.

I am interested in Photography and would really like to work for myself in this area. Can anyone point me in the right direction to start a photography business?
Interest is of interest. Passionate is another far thing from just interest alone. Sorry.

I think Pro shop is more professional but small business is more serious in the course of photography.
what’s your answer?
You are confusing the issue.
A small business can be a Pro shop. The seriousness of the Business is in the hands of the photographer (s) and its clients.

I am planning on asking for a Photography camera from my parents for christmas..something not too expensive because I am only 16, but i am very passionate about it.
I want something that can take amazing glamour shots, makes the pictures look professional, and looks extremely high definition. I want it to be digital too
Help?? Thanks:)
by the way ive been in photography classes for two years and just give me ideas on good cameras, i can figure out the costs and all that later!
First things first: Photos are taken by photographers and not cameras as the books are written by authors and not typewriters.
Now coming to your question pick up any start up model of digital dslr. I am using D-60 nikon and not complaining

Okay, so i’m only in high school, but i’m trying to figure out what i want to do with my life. Photography has always been something i love, but i’m just now getting into it. So my question is, what’s the best camera to start out with if you are really interested in Photography?
Probably an entry level dslr. They can be a little overwhelming if you have little or no experience in photography, but the learning curve is steep so you’ll pick it up quick. With the full manual controls, you’ll be able to adjust the white balance, shutter speed, aperture, focus, etc. and see exactly how everything works in relation to each other. Also, you’ll eventually learn about using different kinds of lenses.
Although dslrs can be expensive (the lenses are the most expensive part), entry level dslrs are much cheaper than they use to be. Some to look at the Nikon D series (D40, D60), Canon Rebel (XTi), Olympus E series (E420, E510). Maybe look into Pentax or Sony as well. Look for a package that comes with a "kit" lens. Although the lens won’t be professional quality, it will be cheaper and you’ll be able to use it to learn with. After you learn a bit and figure out some stuff, you can start looking at better, more expensive lenses.
Stay away from compacts or point&shoots, they automate too much of the Photography process. However, if that’s all you can get your hands on, you can still learn something from it. Use as many manual functions as you can, and take lots and lots of photos to practice things like framing a scene, light sources, etc. After all, a good photographer can take a good picture with a bad camera, but a bad photographer can’t do anything even with a good camera.

My sister is a wedding photographer and is very good at what she does. I thought it would be cool to giver her a very advanced book of digital photography, but they all seem like they’re for beginners. Anyone have an idea on what book to give her? I mean some top notch stuff!
I would suggest Digital Wedding Photography by Glen Johnson… it is an excellent book that not only talks about advanced techniques but also talks about the business, post digital processing, travel photography etc…
here is a link to his actual site

I am really into Photography and am studying it at degree level at the moment. I enjoy fashion photography but I am aware that this is THE hardest business to get into and it is very unlikely, with all the stiff competition, that you would become successful.
What other category is, not easy per say, but generally easier to get into, with a good wage?
Thanks in advance.
Easiest to "get into" is portrait and wedding (general high st. photographer).
Easy as you just set yourself up – stick a few ads in papers and the like and away you go.
Whether or not you get customers (and hence a "good wage") is a different matter.
Fashion is fickle and the magazines tend to use people they already know, to get into it is a lot of hard work pounding the streets to the publishers/fashion houses.
Same with any other type of photography which involves being published in magazines etc.

What does the artistic and technical side(s) of photography mean? What are some examples and types of artistic / technical photgraphy? Anyone have any websites???
You could probably get as many different answers as people who answer. To *me* artistic photography is working to create a vision in the mind. In other words, you are MAKING a photo, not just TAKING a photo. Your intention is to create a mood or depiction of a scene that goes beyond the "normal" view. Your goal is to physically create with the photo the idea, mood, or image you have in your mind.
I think of technical Photography as product shots in which you are capturing the pure physical aspects of something with no vision in mind. Even documentary photography could be called technical photography as it is the capturing of moments or events without necessarily any previous thought or plan. Of course there are many very powerful, artistic documentary photos, but again, the photograher did not usually go out with some vision in mind… the circumstances of the event and his skill with the camera created the art of the photo.
Again… just my take on things. Here is my website if you want to browse. There are photos there that I would say could fall into either catagory. Some of them were ideas in my head that I worked to create with the camera, others were more or less simply putting on film what was before my eyes at the time, though I try to see some art in anything I shoot.
