How to ship reptile pets to other states and overseas?

My friend Alex breeds and raises different kinds of snakes, lizards and amphibians. Normally he sells them locally but has recently gotten requests to sell to other states and even overseas but he is afraid to ship them so far. Both me and Alex love the Pets he breeds and Alex does not want them to be under stress or harm. Is there a way to ship a reptile without causing it to much stress, how would you do this?

I only know how to ship snakes. I’m sure there wouldn’t be to much of a difference in shipping many other different reptiles. With a snake you need a small box, news paper, cheese cloth and tape. Take the news paper and crumple it all into balls, then fill the box half way with the crumpled news paper balls, place the snake into cheese cloth and tie the top so the snake can not get out, place the snake and cheese cloth into the box and fill the box the rest of the way up with news paper. Then tape the box up. Your friend is going to have to send the snake over night or there is more risk of the snake not making it to you in good health. I breed snakes and i have sent a few snakes this way. It has always worked for me. Good luck!

Can my landlord prevent us from having pets when my neighbors do?

Our management company took over this property about a year ago and we moved in shortly after. They stated no Pets, yet 3 of our neighbors who lived here before our landlord took over have pets. Is there any law preventing them from discrimanting against us? If so please let me know.

You moved in after the rule kicked in, your neighbors are grandfathered in under the old rule probably for as long as their rent agreement is for.
They aren’t discriminating against you. You knew the rules, you signed the renter’s agreement signifying you agreed with the rules. Any new renters they get will probably not be allowed to have pets either.
If you knew you wanted pets, you should have gotten a pet-friendly apartment in the first place.
You will either lose your pet if you decide to get one, or your apartment for breaking your lease agreement.
Your neighbor’s won’t, because the lease they signed with the previous owner allowed them to have pets.
It’s not discrimination.

My sister is allergic to most household pets and I really want one! Any ideas?

I love pets and would love one but my sisters allergic. I would have a hypoallergenic cat but that’s way too expensive and reptiles are out of the question because I want something that you can cuddle. I live with my sister and even if I can get a hamster/rabbit/mouse and kept it in my room. My sister would still end up in hospital. (my sister isn’t allergic to birds though)
Do you have any Pets I could have or anyway I could deal with this?

actually you can cuddle with a lot of reptiles more than you can with a hamster or something
leopard geckos, crested geckos and bearded dragons are some of the most docile ones – they make fantastic pets

budgies, cockatiels, parrotlets and other smaller parrots like conures could be options too. They are more high maintenance than a lot of other pets, and they require a lot of time and attention but they will literally become your best friend – they are so clever and form such strong bonds :)

How do I keep pets from crapping in the landscape?

We have Pets that like to lay (and go #2 in the landscape in front of our house. What are some good ways to keep them out besides putting up a fence (ammonia, other odors)? Any good home remedies?

I have never tried this but I heard moth balls work good and so does cayenne pepper.my sis uses some kind of out door spray that she loves it is safe and they can not smell it it is called dog be gone or something like that !sorry I could not be of more help.

What are some different and wierd house pets?

i know a couple people who own little sharks. I’ve heard you can own a freshwater stingray (are those even real??). Ive seen a video where someone had a pet penguin and it caried around a little pingu backpack (so cute). What other wierd Pets have you heard of that are legal.
the penguin was in japan lol

I considered getting one of those enormous millipedes (it was like, a foot long. Huge.)

I’ve wanted an octopus since I saw a nature show about them. This research facility had one in a tank and kept the crabs to feed it in another tank nearby. Every morning, they would find crab shells in the octopus’s tank…but nobody was feeding the octopus.

Finally, they watched it one night–the octopus was climbing out of its tank, walking across the floor (well, I guess you could call it walking), climbing up to the crab tank, getting a crab, and walking back to its own tank.

It would get back in its own tank to eat and leave the crab shell in there, I guess, to counfound its owners.

Awesome.

Or a squid–they can flash biophosphorescent lights and they’re as smart as octopi.

Cephalopods are definitely the way to go.

Can you interview with me about service animals and pets?

1. What do you think about service animals in stores and restaurants?
2. What do you think about facility dogs in hospitals?
3. What pets do you like?
4. Do you own pets?If so, what pets do you own?
5. Where do you think pets should live, indoors or outdoors?
6. How do you think pets can help people?
7. Why do you think people like Pets? Why do people dislike pets?

I’m going to assume this is for a school project or something, so I’ll bite…

1.Service animals are well-trained, and well behaved. People need them to function. I have no problem with them in stores and restaurants.

2.Dogs in hospitals are great! They are very helpful, and some cases that were thought to be hopeless have been turned around by a visiting dog.

3. Dogs

4.I have a staffie/pit bull mix.

5.Indoors if its nasty out, if its nice, give them the choice. But always bring them in at night!

6.Pets are companions, offering love without judgement for anyone. In a practical manner, they protect you and your home, from more than just intruders, but fire, or gas leaks… many people have been saved by their pets aletring them to some problem.

7a. See #6. b. Who knows? Maybe people are just lazy and don’t want to clean up after them or give them the love/exercise/care they need.

Are you normally allowed to keep pets when you buy a flat in Australia?

I’m looking to buy a flat but I’ve heard mixed stories about strata laws in Australia and being able to bring in pets. Is it normal that buildings don’t allow small Pets like birds or cats even if you buy your own flat?

The general feedback from strata on pets is NO. This fluctuates between strata plans though as remember they apply to townhouses and apartments. If you are an owner it is probably easier to get a pet approved but as a tenant it can be very difficult.

Some strata plans are pet friendly (eg if there is a massive courtyard and it’s more like a terrace than a townhouse) but most aren’t.

You may find that even in a building where pets generally aren’t permitted they will let you keep one. I am a property manager and we recently received approval for a cat at a "no pets" property. I too rent and we have been allowed to keep our budgie in an apartment. So long as you go about it the right way you should be okay but I’d do a bit of research before making such a huge investment.

What happens when married people with pets, divorce?

I am not in this situation or anything, but I was just thinking about it. If you are married, and have Pets together, what happens when you get divorced if both parties want the animal? Do they have joint custody, or is one person awarded full custody and how do they decide who gets the pet?

My husband and I will never get a divorce, but if we ever did, he can have the house, I am taking the dogs.

Are beagles good pets and do they get along with other dogs?

We are thinking of getting a Beagle puppy. We already have a 7 year old female westie. The new puppy would be female too. Would they get along? Also are they cuddly dogs because I really want a nice snuggly one as well as playful. Are they good Pets in general? Are they yappy too?

I owned two beagles that eventually went on to a have a HUGE litter of puppies! We enjoyed them so much. I would recommend getting a beagle. They are even tempered, playful, happy, and I have even found them to be snuggly too. Mine was always laying right up against me like a baby!! We never had problems with them being yappy. I would say though, if you can, slowly introduce the new puppy to your dog. Just to make sure they will be ok. Animals are as different as people and sometimes they may not want another animal. If you are getting the new pup from someone who has a litter, ask them if you could bring your dog to help introduce a new puppy.

Can you take pets out of the country?

I heard you can’t take Pets out of the country. Im planning on getting a new pup and i’m moving to the bahamas afterwards. Will I be able to do this and what will i have to do?

Yes, you can take your beloved pet when you’re moving out of the country. But be aware that most countries have a quarantine regulation. Your pet may need to spend as much as 6 months in a separated kennel facility.
I’ve given you a website to check about your specific country in the source section.

What do you feed your carniverous pets?

This is a legitimate question. I can assure you I’m not trying to be flippant or smart by asking it. For all vegans, do you feed your Pets (mainly cats and dogs) traditional pet food made with meat? I’m mainly curious to receive answers from vegans who choose to be vegan because they think it’s cruel to kill animals. Part two (for those of you who feed your pets regular old dog/cat food): Why is it OK to kill animals for your pets to eat, but not for you to eat? Don’t you think that the chickens and lambs and ducks and whatever other animals they use to make pet food are treated just as badly as animals that people eat? Please don’t take offense…I’m just curious. Thanks for all replies!

I’m neither a vegan nor a pet owner….

However, I can’t imagine a vegan (for cruelty reasons) owning a pet. Consider that for millenia, these animals have been cross-bred and inbred to strip any and all wild tendency out of them. Then mass reproduced and sold.

Personally, I dosn’t bother me. But someone who is a vegan due to animal ethics issues would be a bit hypocritical if they owned a pet.

What are some interesting or exotic pets allowed in Australia?

Okay, well I’m 16 years old. I have epilepsy and have startle seizures so a loud pet isn’t a good choice at all. I am willing to spend a fair bit of money on the animal itself. I live in Victoria, so ferrets and rabbits are legal, but I’m looking for something different see?

I wondered if anyone could list (maybe) as many Pets that I could possibly keep (indoor or outdoor) andd some sources on how to care for it.

How about a veiled chameleon? Here is a care sheet with pictures:

What kind of pets did people have during the American Revolution?

Just a curious question. A friend and I were discussing this and we found it would just be a neat thing to know. Did they even have pets? I’ve heard dogs were popular, but what kind? I’ve heard a lot of different answers, and research is too much of a pain for a ‘just to know’ question.

I don’t think they tended to keep Pets (not the way we think of them), though they would have had working animals, including dogs to guard and manage livestock, horses for transportation, oxen for pulling heavy loads, and cats for pest control. I’m sure there were a few people who had a particular fondness for an animal, but I doubt it was the norm. It would have been an extravagance.

How can pet owners tell if their pets, cats or dogs are happy?

I seem to think that my cats are bored because they sleep too much!
They seem sad, not very playful and they are only 1 year old.
What are some signs of happy Pets or unhappy pets?

Cats are supposed to sleep an average of 18 hours a day… that is perfectly normal… as long as they eat sleep and poop normally… you have a happy cat… some cats are just not that playful while others are bouncing off the wall… chill… they are cats doing what cats do best lol
