How can I submit my business to google maps when my business is a service for people in their homes?

Usually when I search for a type of business google has many names and addresses of the businesses immediately and it’s included on google maps. But if my business consists of services primarily provided in a customer’s Home (and I don’t have an office yet) can it still be listed? Without an address?

There’s a new feature in Google Places for businesses that allows you to list a "service area." When you do this you can also exclude your address.

Not showing your address seems to lead to lower rankings, so I would definitely add it if you get an office sometime down the line, but this will at least get you listed for now.

I used to notice Businesses come and go. Some retail shops opened, another closed. Not many businesses are sustainable. Yet many want to go into business in order to be business owners, hoping to earn big and become financially independent. The reality is not always that way.

How do you get business connections for start up promotions?

If i have investment money and a prime investor for my Business, how do I promote my business? How do I gain connections with other business owners and gain clients? I know you have to talk to people, thats a given but who do you talk and what kind of places? I know about angel and venture capitalist, but I am asking how do you get the connections you need to promote your business?

Is this an Internet business? What I’m going to suggest is for a brick and mortar business. Look up BNI in google. What that it is is a group of individuals that meets for the same reason, to meet other business people and make connection. Look for other networking groups in your area. Make business cards and be prepared to kiss some butt.

How would you promote a neighborhood business?

I’m trying to create a personal business and I have business cards and have made flyers for my business. It is pet sitting and many other things. Someone else beat me to the pet sitting, but I still want to practice my other Businesses. I have made prices and have references, but nobody is calling. I haven’t put up the flyers yet, because I don’t know where to put them! I also have a babysitting business too. What kind of other promoting should I do, and any other ideas for different businesses?
I don’t want to do any online surveys.

Hey Lauryn, for starters, you can send out a "Grand Opening" email to all your contacts so they’re aware of your business and start getting your flyers and any other marketing materials distributed throughout your local community. Below is a list of places to get you started. The key is to be consistent in getting as much information out there as you can so make sure you have your marketing materials with you whereever you go leaving a "paper trail" behind. Once you start building up a clientele, you’ll be able to work on referrals as well.

You’ll eventually want to expand on this but you first want to start with the basics. HTH
